I have been doing lots of research for this project, so whilst I don’t have any tangible evidence of improvement, I feel much more informed on the topics. The academic research has complemented the market research I did at the start of this project, and also gave academic validation to concepts I had vague knowledge about, thanks to my experience with social media. 


The research has helped me make more in-depth plans for the resources, allowing me to add quotes and simple academic concepts into the 4-week course, and giving me new ideas for practical tasks in the masterclass. The readings I have done span many decades, from 1997 to 2024. This means I can look at how the values of marketing have changed and developed, and how they might develop in the near future. 


This research has also informed the plan for the project essay, and I will look into the fundamentals of social media music marketing, what they are, how they’ve developed and why they’re important.
